The ultimate vehicle for family-friendly driving is a minivan and at Honda of Illinois, located in Springfield IL, our favorite is the Honda Odyssey! Below we compare our Honda Odyssey to the Chrysler Pacifica, looking at the key areas of performance and seating, safety, and minivan-specific technology.

Performance and Seating

The Odyssey has a 3.5L V6 engine to power you around Jacksonville IL and beyond. It has 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft torque. The engine on the first two trims has an 8-speed transmission and towing up to 3,000 pounds. On the top two trims there's a 10-speed transmission and towing up to 3,500 pounds.

The Pacifica has a 3.6L V6 with 287 horsepower, 262 lb-ft torque, a 9-speed transmission, and towing up to 3,600 pounds. The Pacifica does have slightly higher horsepower and max tow ratings, but not by a substantial amount. It also lacks the 10-speed transmission.

Safety

Safety is crucial, especially when you have precious cargo aboard as you drive to the elementary school in Chatham IL, commute in Sherman IL, or visit family across the state.

Blind spot monitoring with cross traffic alerts is standard on the Pacifica, and there's also has a long list of advanced safety features. However, unless you get the top trim they're only available on select trims.

Minivan-Specific Features

Minivans are a body style all their own, and the Odyssey has several features that make driving around Taylorville and other places easier!

There's a CabinWatch™ camera that helps you keep a watchful eye, CabinTalk™ so you can get everyone's attention without yelling, and the HondaVAC® for easy cleanups.

The Pacifica also has an in-van vacuum. However, it lacks a back-seat camera, a voice amplifier, and the standard grocery bag hooks aren't that exciting in comparison.
